Hundreds of first dances, after-school clubs, and parent-teacher conferences transpired on the hardwood floors of Hawthorne Elementary School.
Built in 1917, Hawthorne has been a cornerstone of the Jefferson neighborhood for over a century and a longtime source of childhood nostalgia among all former Hawthorne Huskies.
OPENED 1917
OLD SCHOOL, NEW SPIRIT.
RENEWED 2025
After learning that the landmark Hawthorne school had sat vacant for a decade, SCA embraced the opportunity to reinvigorate Husky pride by breathing new life into this building in one of Cleveland's most dynamic and diverse neighborhoods.
From the gym’s basketball court to the auditorium stage, Hawthorne’s hallways have retained their school spirit while transforming into 37 unique apartments.
In the same way teachers welcome students to a new school year, we want to be an ambassador to this building and Jefferson.
